Be empathetic, while keep rational
I'm Mia, a 2nd year graduate student at the University of Washington, studying Human-Centered Design & Engineering. I had a Cognitive Psychology background and earned my bachelor degree at Univerisity of California, Irvine in 2019.
My Psych background empowered me to be an highly empathetic and research-driven person at the same time. I fell in love with observing, thinking and solving problems from different individuals' perspectives, meanwhile ensure to avoid jumping to conclusions without solid research. As a UX designer & researcher, I'm passionate with creating digitally inclusive and intuitive products for users with different genders, backgrounds and abilities, especially disadvantaged groups in our society.
Apart from research and design, I love to try all types of extreme sports. From surfing🏄 in Hawaii, to snowboarding🏂 in Steven Pass, Seattle. I'm eager to explore all the outdoor beauties in this world.
What I’ll do beside works…
Picnic under cherry blossom
Having a beautiful picnic under cherry blossom with friends is always on my bucket list. I couldn’t travel to japan last year to make this due to the pandemic, but gladly I made it work in Seattle this spring 🌸
Practicing tennis every week
It’s shy to admit that I develop interests in tennis because of a Japanese anime “The prince of tennis” I watched in my childhood! I started to officially learn tennis since September, 2021. By practicing tennis these days, I have built long-lasting friendships with my tennis-mates 🎾
Surfing in Hawaii
Being a truly adventurous person, I’m not afraid to make travel plan spontaneously. I flew to a surf camp in Hawaii north shore by myself 1 week before my 2022 summer internship starts, and stayed in a Hawaiian homestay 7 days to practice surfing everyday! 🏄🏻♀️
Studying in Waseda Univeristy
I’m always proud of my international background and experiences. Born in China, spent my high school, college and grad school in U.S, also learnt Japanese and studied abroad in Waseda University before 🇯🇵
